Objectives

Compass was a long-term training programme (Erasmus+ Programme, Key Action 1, February 2020 deadline) for youth workers and youth leaders from Erasmus+ Programme countries. It aimed at developing competencies in human rights education, notably using the Council of Europe’s Compass Manual. Despite many logistical challenges throughout the pandemic, the project successfully reached completion with three mobilities, 89 learners, 28 staff and an average overall satisfaction level of over 85%. The project offered a comprehensive training and support programme to all learners, from introducing them to human rights and non-formal education, training in the use of Compass manual and implementation of local activities as well as evaluation and learning impact assessment. This long-term project was composed of three training courses and a series of local human rights education activities organised by participants in their countries. The project’s objectives were: • To increase the competencies of youth leaders, youth workers and educators in the field of Human Rights Education • To train participants in using the “Compass” Manual • To mainstream human rights in youth work and develop future human rights-related projects in partner countries • To increase the international dimension of youth work, notably with reference to human rights education As evidenced by project results and evaluation (see below), all four objectives of the project have been achieved.
