Healthy Y-EU-oth included an APV and a youth exchange in Pervolia, Cyprus for young people with fewer opportunities. This project aimed to promote a healthy lifestyle, develop social inclusion, build a sense of solidarity amongst young people, and increase their self-empowerment and self-esteem in order to maintain and promote healthy lifestyle. We aimed to increase participants’ awareness about the following topics through non-formal education and physical activity: 1. What a healthy lifestyle is and what its individual and community benefits are 2. How the Internet affects the human body and motivation 3. What the appropriate behaviours that we need in order to have a healthy lifestyle are 4. What the optimal ratio of health and quality of life is 5. What exactly we need to do to have a healthy life We developed the following specific objectives: -To explore the concept of healthy lifestyle -To discuss current issues related to nutrition and sports through sharing good practices and experiences related to prevention of diseases caused by lack of exercise and poor eating habits. -To provide participants with theoretical and practical opportunities to improve their physical and health competences -To foster youngsters to become peer educators and to create a network to work as multipliers for healthy lifestyle -To promote non-formal education and Erasmus+ Programme as a support tool for health education -To promote youth interactions, networks and partnerships. The short-term aim of this project was to identify all the benefits of a healthy lifestyle and to motivate young people to adopt healthy habits. The long-term aims were to preserve the knowledge and skills participants gained during the project for the future. Besides all mentioned, the project aimed to promote active citizenship and intercultural dialogue, enhance the international dimension of youth activities and strengthen cooperation between project countries. We also wanted to foster quality improvements in youth work, in particular through enhanced cooperation between organisations in the youth field. In addition, the project could support specific objectives of the Erasmus+ through improving the level of key competences and skills of young people, including those with fewer opportunities, as well as promote respect, tolerance, equality, social inclusion and solidarity. The project was directly relevant to 7 of the 11 Youth Goals (http://www.youthgoals.eu/) but most strongly connected to #3 Inclusive Societies "Ensure that all marginalised young people have equal access to formal and non-formal learning environments, addressing all the dimensions of inclusion." and #5 Mental Health & Wellbeing "Encourage the development of self-awareness and less competitive mindsets by fostering appreciation for individual skills and strengths". The “Healthy Y-EU-oth” project also corresponded to the overall objectives of the framework for European cooperation in the youth field (2014-2020) through promoting active citizenship, social inclusion and solidarity. It also improved the quality and efficiency of education and training through developing key competencies of participants and supports lifelong learning and mobility under the objectives of the strategic framework for ET2020. This project aimed to support young people to promote healthy lifestyles by the introduction of a widespread culture of healthy lifestyle and safety regulations. It attempted to improve young people's lives by offering support regarding the most appropriate behaviours to adopt in order to have a healthy lifestyle. In this way, we wanted to increase individuals’ self-esteem and self-confidence, support them to develop on their own, and guarantee their involvement in different societies. As for participating organisations, this project aimed to give them the opportunity to build networks and international contacts that could be useful for them and act as a base for future collaborations. It could be an additional motivation for them to actively participate in the social life of their local communities and improve people’s quality of life by sharing gained knowledge and skills and by raising their awareness of the damages that certain behavioural practices have. The aims of the APV were better partner cooperation and developing the schedule of the exchange. We discussed the assignments of tasks and responsibilities. We planned the outlines of the exchange activities to the extent that participants could plan them in detail and deliver them during the exchange. We were able to see the accommodation and the working place, in order to make sure that it was suitable for people with fewer opportunities. We were then able to communicate the details of the venue, exchange activities, and what to expect to participants. We agreed on a code of conduct, discussed inclusion, learning outcomes, fewer opportunities, and ensuring project objectives would be met.
