Film Beyond Borders (FBB) aimed to empower young people through film and new media to participate in the world around them, present their perspectives and direct their own futures. It focused on the creative process of film, audio-visual language and event management as perfect tools for personal and practical self-development and exposure to new methodologies, contexts and skills. An integral feature of FBB was the concept of volunteering as a method of hands-on and meaningful learning combined with displaying the value of an active positive role in the community.
