Objectives

The topic of the project was youth entrepreneurship and the main objective of the project led by Youth Action International was to promote youth engagement and youth empowerment in Europe. We wanted to broaden our knowledge and learn more about different types of entrepreneurial attitudes. We aimed to educate ourselves and help others to take the future of our careers into our hands, considering present challenges that young people face - the percentage of youth who are NEET (not in employment, education or training) is still very high. Therefore, together, with other youth-driven European organisations from Poland, Lithuania, Romania, Slovakia and Latvia, we decided to engage in a project that focused on social entrepreneurship. Project objectives were to: - to define youth employability and to raise awareness about our perceptions of entrepreneurship in our countries/cultures, - to learn what social entrepreneurship is, - to develop innovative skills – the project was based on innovative and creative non-formal activities, - to boost young people’s entrepreneurial, practical and transversal skills that can ultimately lead towards employment or starting their own business - to develop communication skills to help youth network and articulate their vision and deeper needs, - to promote the idea of youth entrepreneurship in Europe, - to foster a sense of responsibility and initiative in young people through social entrepreneurship and innovation, - to improve performance and problem-solving skills, - to share methods for and understanding and encouraging usage of entrepreneurship activities in youth work with intercultural learning and dialogue aspects, - to promote cultural diversity as a strength in our everyday life and (youth) work, - to promote intercultural dialogue as an instrument in acquiring the knowledge and aptitudes for dealing with a more open and more complex environment. The mission of our project was in accordance with the primary priorities of the Erasmus+ programme. It enabled participants to feel like citizens of a united Europe and it induced social solidarity. Considering the topic of “T-You” and the fact that participants from different countries took part in the project, the initiative promoted intercultural education and thought understanding and tolerance. It helped to break stereotypes and lessen prejudice. The project also created new opportunities for young people who are not given an equal start as many of their peers (in our case - excluded youth due to their intercultural background). Along with our focus on entrepreneurship, our multicultural event also addressed issues of cultural diversity, mutual understanding, improving competencies, self-development, teamwork and non-formal education.
