The "Healthy Lifestyle Camp" was an international youth exchange for young people aged 13 to 18 with 5 partners from the United Kingdom, Latvia, Estonia, Ukraine and Georgia, who have very different lifestyles and the meaning of being healthy. The idea was to have an exchange between young people from different cultures, backgrounds and upbringings but with the same interest - to have a healthy and happy lifestyle. Initially the youth exchange had to take part in Ukrainian eco-farm in 2020, however, we had to move the exchange first because of the COID and second, because of the war. The project finally was implemented in Latvian national park Gauja in July 2022. Although the project was moved and teams were changed several times, we managed to keep the same topic, the same focus and even the same parters with almost the same youth teams. Healthy and happy lifestyle among young people is one of the biggest challenges. Research has shown that finding time for ourselves is one of the biggest challenges nowadays and those people who express themselves in one or another (physical or mental) way give more positive marks for their quality of life. Many studies and articles on the topic are based on the development of youth policy in Europe, like "Healthy Europe: confidence and uncertainty for young people in contemporary Europe", 2016, CoE. "Healthy Lifestyle Camp" had several topics, which were all interconnected and essential for a healthy lifestyle of modern youth. We observed some countries' educational need more information about a healthy lifestyle. Also, official statistics demonstrate that young people have more physical and mental health problems due to the speed of development of the processes around them in the 21st century. Young people who were the members of partner organisations agree that it is not always easy to follow healthy lifestyle when so many interesting sugary and salty products are on the shelves, computer games are much more interesting than garden games, social media bloggers substitute conversations with parents and psychologists and so on. However, in some countries, like Ukraine and Georgia, to be healthy and eat organic homegrown and make own food is not a luxury, but a necessity, but young people do not appreciate this fact, looking at the Western world and all the advertising on the TV and Internet, which are marketed very attractively. All partners agreed that this was a fantastic challenge for young people - to live in their terminational environment in the national park, to talk about the health away from Internet and hypermarkets, to share tips and tricks, recipes and secrets about each culture's healthy lifestyle approach. It was an amazing space for young people to find the time to think, identify, express themselves and make a practice to be healthy and happy. For the expression, partners had a list of creative and non-formal methods for young people to choose from and implement with the help of team leaders. Partners also agreed that many young people in our organisations and communities don't have equal access to the programmes like Erasmus+ and therefore, this youth exchange was an opportunity to those young people who have economic, educational, social and cultural differences or problems. To be more detailed, we had several objectives for this youth exchange: Objective #1: Develop a Healthy Lifestyle - Develop awareness among youth on how to make their own happy life for themselves and the society around - Prevent youth from participating in gang activity, criminal activity, and other juvenile behaviours - Engage in moderate to vigorous physical activity daily - Be aware and knowledgeable about peer education and participation by raising their voices to make a healthy lifestyle for themselves and the society around - Be knowledgeable of the different ways of self-expression Objective #2: Develop positive values and character - Decrease or eliminate delinquent behaviours - Develop responsibility and respect/care for others - Desire to contribute to one’s community - Develop leadership abilities Objective #3: Improve Educational Achievement - To get know more about events management and publicity of positive habits - Develop self-discipline and study habits - Introduce learning competencies - Create a personal development plan for the next year with a coach - Introduce volunteering opportunities
