Countries: UK · Grant: €81,625

Objectives

The objectives identified were all achieved. The major outcome centred on establishing new working relationships with Zealand Business College (ZBC) and Sola Norway enabling 12 Professional Cooks and 12 Air Defense students to work alongside their peers in professional working situations. The initial working relationship with IES Abastos, established in 2018 has seen continued commitment from both parties. It has been further endorsed by Lincoln College hosting IES students on placement. An aim of the project was to offer the participants the opportunity to enhance their progression into employment or further training. For each of the Air Defence students all Level 2 are progressing into Level 3 National Diploma in Engineering or Aerospace. All Level 3 students are awaiting the outcome from application to join the Royal Air Force. A similar pattern is also showing for Level 2 Professional Cooks students to progress to Level 3 and Level 3 students into employment with additional training. Computing students are progressing to alternative IT qualifications or Level 4/degree programmes. Culturally all participants have been able to experience working and living in another EU country, becoming aware of an alternative culture.

Background

The aim of this 2020 project, 'Continuing Growth' was to build upon and expand the successful working relationship with an established partner (IES Abastos) and to extend this work to new partners. This undertaking was in support of the Mobility Charter Strategy re- increasing participation for staff and students in additional vocational areas. Lincoln College has participated in Erasmus + and its fore runner projects for many years, working successfully with partners in The Netherlands, Germany, Italy and Spain. Opportunities have arisen in recent times to establish working relationships with two new partners, Zealand Business College Denmark (ZBC) and Sola VGS College, Norway. This has enabled and supported curriculum development in the areas of Aviation/Engineering and Hospitality and Catering, thus providing students and staff vocational and personal experiences and self development in another country. The enrichment that participation brings to the individual also continued during this period for those who received funding for the extended 2019/2021 project Extending Boundaries successfully concluding in 2022.
