COVID19 had and will continue to have many devastating impacts on all. The educational systems had to adapt very quickly and research is now showing that remote education and e-training activities are increased. The changes observed in information and communication technologies change social life as well as reshape the educational and business environments that require access to information, creating information, and using information. Today, education should be in an approach that equips students according to the uncertainty, complexity and technological needs of the future, in accordance with the phenomena that come into our lives such as cybernetics, robotics, big data, nano technology, artificial intelligence, global citizenship and the digital age and the concept of "Industry 4.0". Remote education is one of the areas where technology is used the most. In many countries of the world, a fast and compulsory transition has been made to distance education due to the pandemic. Distance education is an educational process in which the student is active, contributes to the content, uses different web2.0 and asynchronous training tools, and allows individual development. For this reason, the starting point of our project is to provide a quality and efficient education in distance education, to be active teachers and students, and to use different web2.0 and asynchronous education tools effectively. KEY OBJECTIVES TiDE bring together a strategic partnership of schools and civil society NGOs from the UK, Turkey, Slovenia, Italy, Portugal and Lithuania: -To contribute to the more efficient and effective distance education through the exchange of good practices in the 6 participating countries -To contribute to the development of teachers in personal and professional areas in the distance education process -To contribute to the most effective and efficient use of distance education by students -Contributing to the institutional capacity of partner institutions in distance education. TARGET GROUPS: 1. Teachers and other educators who guide students in the effective use of technology, web2.0 and asynchronous educational tools in education. In addition, the person who organizes education according to the individual differences, learning speed and style of each student is the teacher. For these reasons, teachers have a great role to play in order to realize an effective distance education and they must be active in these areas. 2. Students. In order to be an effective distance education, our students must have knowledge and skills about distance education processes, web2.0 and asynchronous education tools. ACTIVITIES 4 TPM and 1 LTT activities. Each TPM activity will take 2 days, LTT activity will take 5 days. Four participants from each institution will take part in the first TPM, three participants for other TPMs, and 3 participants from each institution in LTT activity. The 1st TPM will be held in Italy. In the project kick-off meeting, all details related to the partners' getting to know each other, management, budget, tangible outputs, activities, schedule, Quality Assurance and to realize a good project will be decided. The 2nd TPM will be held in Lithuania. In this meeting, the content, design and interface of the Project Web Site, which is the tangible output of our project, will be determined and work will be done. The 3rd TPM will be held in Turkey. It is the meeting where the design of the Web2.0 Tools Handbook, which is the tangible output of our project, the determination of the Web2.0 tools to be included in the booklet, and its effective use in distance education, its advantages and disadvantages will be discussed. The 4th TPM will be held in Portugal. It is the meeting where the design of the Asynchronous Training and Tools Handbook, which is the tangible output of our project, the determination of the asynchronous training tools to be included in the booklet, its effective use in distance education, its advantages and disadvantages will be discussed. The LTT meeting will be held in Slovenia. This activity is the meeting where the 3 tangible outputs created in cooperation with the partner institutions during the project are transferred to the trainers of the partner institutions effectively. LONG TERM RESULTS Teachers will have an effective lesson management by using web2.0 and asynchronous education tools to be used in distance education. Students will be successful students with quality distance education, institutions that can provide education and training support during extraordinary periods such as the Institutions Pandemic. The project will be disseminated with these studies such as the project website, the website of our institutions, the posters with the project logo, brochure, pen and notepad, key chain distribution, sharing on social media, informative meetings suitable for the target group specified, local press news, project boards, video, etc.
TIDE's original objective was to address educational needs and make education aligned with an approach that equips students according to the uncertainty, complexity, and technological needs of the future, in accordance with the phenomena that come into our lives such as cybernetics, robotics, big data, nano technology, artificial intelligence, global citizenship and the digital age and the concept of “Industry 4.0”. To this, it aimed at contributing to the more efficient and effective distance education through the exchange of good practices in the 6 participating countries, to the development of teachers in personal and professional areas in the distance education process, to the most effective and efficient use of distance education by students and eventually to the institutional capacity of partner institutions in distance education. We are pleased to report that the project successfully managed to keep up with the fast and compulsory transition that has been made to distance education due to the pandemic and support educators and students. Distance education is an educational process in which the student is active, contributes to the content, uses different web 2.0 and asynchronous training tools, and allows individual development; all these were taken into account to develop our material and tangible outputs. The project focused on improving and strengthening educators’ professional competences and digital skills regarding distance education, while it levelled up their teaching profile and ability to motivate students. TIDE aimed to cultivate strategies for educators that can help them create an educational environment suitable for the new generation and the technological needs of the future and familiarise them with how to plan applications utilizing Web 2.0 technologies and other software programmes. At the same time, it wished to motivate students, introducing to them a more innovative and effective learning perspective that could facilitate and keep them more active in their learning process. Overall, the project wished to promote a more innovative, interactive, student-centered, technology-integrated, and time/space-independent teaching approach, supporting both teachers but also students through a lifelong learning mentality. Finally, TIDE aimed to improve and extend the supply of high-quality learning opportunities methods and contribute to knowledge sharing between teachers, educators and relevant practitioners in the field and shared training materials and practical guides/handbooks. Overall, we wanted to increase awareness of the technology-driven and fast-paced changes occurring in education and contribute to this by implementing innovations.
The Use of Web2.0 and Asynchronous Education Tools in Distance Education (TiDE) was developed in response to educators’ and students’ need for greater access to remote education and e-training activities as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. COVID19 had many devastating impacts on all of us. The educational systems had to adapt very quickly, and research has shown that there has been an increase in digital and remote education. The TiDE project strived to add to this by developing online learning tools that support students and educators in strengthening the potential of distance education and in bringing a more innovative and interactive teaching approach. The starting point of the TiDE project was to support distance education by creating Web 2.0 and asynchronous learning tools effectively, in order to level up teaching and learning approaches and methods. Web 2.0 tools include tools on the internet that allow users to create shareable content and interact with others. Asynchronous online learning refers to the possibility for students to view instructional materials and engaging digital learning content online in their own time. Overall, the TiDE project aimed to contribute to more efficient and effective distance education through the exchange of good practices in the six participating countries. At this critical point for humanity, the TiDE project brought together a strategic partnership of schools and civil society NGOs from the UK, Turkey, Slovenia, Italy, Portugal and Lithuania, to address urgent needs; -To contribute to the more efficient and effective distance education through the exchange of good practices in the 6 participating countries, -To contribute to the development of teachers in personal and professional areas in the distance education process, -To contribute to the most effective and efficient use of distance education by students and to contribute to the institutional capacity of partner institutions in distance education. Therefore, with TIDE, we sought to keep up with the change that was coming, given that today's student profile is inevitably intertwined with technology and hence it is very important to use technology correctly and efficiently. We needed to integrate the technology used by students into education and training. This report demonstrates that TIDE exchanged its results at national and European levels, helping in this way to achieve the objectives of Erasmus+ in the new digital era.
