The project “What unites us all” was a fourth project in a row implemented by IniciativAngola on the topic of intercultural and inter-religious dialogue. Through the project, young participants were able to learn more about the importance of the dialogue, got to know different religions and cultures, and in an informal learning process gained different competences and skills. Not only in our environment, but also Europe- and worldwide, many prejudices, conflicts that originate from incomprehension of other cultures and religions, are troubling young people and marking them in a peculiar way. With this project, we wanted to offer them an opportunity to learn about different cultures and religions in order to prevail negative emotions and responses to the differences. The main aim of the project was therefore learning about the cultures and religions, and dialogue, addressing the topic according to the values and objectives of the Erasmus+ program. We have put the emphasis especially on the dialogue between Islam, Orthodoxy, Judaism and Catholicism - 4 religions and beliefs that are present in our environment and in the environment of the partner organisations. Nevertheless, the participants met also other representatives of other religions, e.g. Sikh or Egyptian Copts. With the project, we aimed to promote respect and openness for the diversity that young people are experiencing in their everyday life. The main projects´ objectives were reducing fear, prejudices and therefore raising tolerance and respect of human rights. The emphasis of the project is put on cultural and religious interaction observing everyday situations in the participants’ environment and the concrete European situation. With this project, we aimed to contribute to the social awareness, therefore respect of religion, prevention from the negativism and violence, equipping the participants with the capacity of critical thinking, and afterwards encourage them to live actively the promoted values in their own environment. One another important objective was to foster preventive strategies against all anti-religious and anti-cultural realities that are threating to raise (again) in our society.
