Art unites people. Art is able to create bridges between different cultures and hostile nations and contexts of origin. At the same time, art also offers an opportunity to explore social contexts and situations. Aesthetic research and exploration have found their way into the canon of scientific methodology. Art thus opens up a wide range of possibilities for use in youth work and especially in the area of transcultural work, which is rife with conflict. The participants were introduced to this topic, learnt about different artistic methods and techniques and were also enabled to use these techniques and methods themselves in youth work. Initially, the focus is on self-awareness through the use of artistic forms of expression. By working on and with artistic media, children and young people learn to express themselves, their emotions and their thoughts and also to look at them from a distance from a meta-level - essential prerequisites for successful reflection work. They learn tolerance by observing the artistic works of others. And they learn about cultural encounters and differences in the transcultural field. The participants themselves have familiarised themselves with different methods and techniques of artistic work that are essentially low in effort, which is why economic barriers can be kept low with these methods in the participants' work. These are primarily performance art, installation and the preservation of evidence (from painting and photography to the collection and arrangement of objects) and, to some extent, creative work with texts.
