Objectives

After 2016, in a post attack context, we felt the need to carry out a seminar entitled "Winning without fighting". This seminar had, among other things, the objective of sensitizing young people to the issue of violence as a response to social and human conflicts, but especially internal and psychic. At the end of the seminar, a global reflection was made. Indeed, the participants expressed their need to acquire new tools concerning the expression of emotions and feelings in order to be closer to the emotional reality of their audience. This subject seemed important to us insofar as the capacity of each person to understand, identify and manage his or her emotions is a basic postulate for achieving personal and relational balance and thus curbing a possible spiral of violence. The objective of the seminar was therefore to bring elements of theory and to experiment with practical tools around "feeling" in order to help youth workers who are dealing with people who have difficulties to identify and express feelings. The conviction behind this objective is that identifying and expressing what one feels is an essential basis for personal and relational balance and that, therefore, it is important for workers to reflect and to be able to equip themselves on this subject. To operationalize this objective, the idea was to propose three axes of work considered essential to the problem of "feeling" and feelings: the axis of gender, the axis of the body and the axis of culture. We were thus able to work on these axes, both on a theoretical level and on a practical level around exchanges of tools, good practices and concrete techniques. The seminar was structured around these three thematic axes: gender, body and culture. The thematic axis of gender addressed the way in which the relationships between men and women structure the feeling of gender and the expression of it. The thematic axis of the body approached the correlations between the feelings, the emotions, the feelings, the words and how the body expressed them. Finally, the last thematic axis culture approached the question of how the socio-cultural context influences the meaning and the representations that each one can have of the feelings. The purpose of each axis was therefore to make the professionals reflect on this "structure of feelings" but also to bring up a set of concrete tools from the professionals themselves. As far as the theoretical contribution is concerned, it was planned to rely on podcasts, videos and extracts from texts. For the practical part, the professionals had to prepare a presentation of working tools according to axis 1, 2 or 3. The participants were divided into sub-groups, divided according to the themes. Afterwards, plenary sessions were planned in order to allow for a sharing of thoughts and experiences. The objective of the "Make me feel" seminar was therefore to - to couple elements of theory with exchanges of practices around these concepts, this, in the framework of an intercultural meeting. - to provide social workers with tools that will allow them to better support their public in the management of their emotions and feelings, through a sharing of experiences between professionals working with different publics. - to make known the Erasmus + project and its stakes - to reinforce the network and create a synergy between social workers from Europe and Maghreb.
