Our project aims to create new employment opportunities by promoting qualified entrepreneurship in general. While doing that, a special working area has been determined to address the problems of startup costs, mentor support and team building which are seen as the biggest obstacles in front of young entrepreneur candidates. This area has been narrowed down according to our previous work. Accordingly, with a relatively small project, we were able to create a concrete effect on 36 participants directly and 5 thousand young people with the dissemination activities we carried out indirectly. In Europe, especially in the last 10 years, important steps have been taken to promote entrepreneurship through various programmes of governments and the European Commission. Since the level of competitiveness brought by the technology age is significantly high, the ultimate success can be achieved by the ownership of these incentive campaigns by the entire ecosystem, especially the civil private sector and civil society. At this point, there are still very important challenges, especially for young entrepreneur candidates. According to the reports we have compiled from the practices we have done at EDI since 2017, the biggest challenges facing young people who want to become entrepreneurs in Europe are as follows: - Starting costs - Lack of mentors - Unable to form a team Especially in countries that have developed an entrepreneurial culture, these problems have been actively addressed through coworking workspaces and cultural industries for the last 10 years. (See also: https://goo.gl/nBXH6R) The project “New Horizons for young entrepreneurs: Coworking Culture” was set to meet these 3 basic needs. The goal was to develop a European-wide collaborative culture and guide young people to these areas, reducing startup costs, eliminating the lack of mentors and increasing opportunities to build qualified teams. With our project focusing on the most important issues in the field of youth entrepreneurship, we have brought together young entrepreneurs and potential entrepreneurial candidates who are working in co-working areas or unemployed in different of E+ program countries to gain experience. To contribute to the establishment of new collaborations, to promote the perception of entrepreneurship as an important career alternative, and to create an innovative entrepreneurship program framework implemented at EDI’s office in Silver Square Coworking, Brussels. Together with all this, we aimed to increase the number of young entrepreneurs by contributing to the spread of the co-working culture and thus to the formation of new employment areas and we have taken an important step for this with our project. Our project prioritizes youth employment and young entrepreneurship. In addition, it encouraged joint work and international cooperation. While addressing disadvantaged groups, it also targeted unemployed youth. The initiative program created as a result of our project with a sustainable perspective will be implemented regularly every year at the EDI office in Silver Square Coworking, Brussels with the support of stakeholders with the importance given to the participation of disadvantaged people. These aspects align with the overall and annual priorities of E+. Based on this, we realized our project by bringing together experienced partners with the participation of 36 young participants, mentors, trainers, experts and different project stakeholders.
