Objectives

By implementing the project, we hoped to raise the standard of youth work in the participating countries and the EU in general. We sought to provide Youth Workers with the knowledge, experiences, and resources necessary to enhance their professional performance when working with or for our youth. We collected a set of activities, customized them as needed, and produced additional curriculum activities to achieve our goal; to make an impact on participants' lives and to improve their professional response to discrimination. This was achieved by: a) Assigning micro research assignments to participants and allowing them to share their findings in the group. For example, as preparation participants had to a presentation about discrimination and/or innovation in their country, which was something that helped their understanding on the subject and boosted their confidence. Additionally, it increased participants' odds of retaining the material in their long-term memory and recalling it when necessary. Moreover, this is an excellent approach to develop some shared foundational knowledge about discrimination and innovation in different countries during the mobility. b) Non-formal activities. We conducted activities such as role playing, debates, storytelling etc. These types of activities are designed to assist participants in placing themselves in the shoes of others, thereby boosting their emotional intelligence. We believe that these activities will benefit participants in the future careers working with youth, as they have gained a better understanding of themselves or of the different layers of discrimination. c) Problem solving activities: This category of activities aided youth workers in thinking outside of the box and developing solutions to current societal issues, such as the environment, discrimination, or youth participants. For example, participants had to create their own business plan in one of our activities, and they came up with very insightful environmental, and inclusive ideas. This enabled them to be more inventive, but also to consider in their inventiness the current societal issues. d) Additional work: We encouraged participants to come up with their own regional or national projects. Partner organizations were prepared to provide participants with the resources needed to implement the project and enhance their anti-discrimination efforts. Partner organizations will help any participant who want to continue further with another project and/or activity, regardless how small or big.
