Objectives

The proposal came from young people as members, collaborators and attending sports clubs and youth committees in direct connection with the municipalities participating in the project. In these contexts of training and socialising, the young people have re-established a healthy and balanced relationship with food thanks to the many activities proposed, such as sports or food awareness and prevention campaigns. Outside these environments, however, young people found difficult to keep in balance this relationship with food. Despite the greater information on food education compared to past generations, the acquisition of correct behavioural models does not take place for several reasons, among them the mass media give us the wrong social and consumption models, for young and adults the Nutritional knowledge of food is scarce and marketed, the frenetic rhythms of modern life impose incorrect eating habits even in the family environment. The young participants wanted to overcome that ambivalence and within informal training contexts had the opportunities offered by the Erasmus Programme and to realize a project that disseminates information to prevent eating disorders and wrong behaviours and provide food for thoughts (social spot) to counteract corrup marketing messages. The long-term objectives of the project are: -the reduction of incentives to non-communicable diseases; -the improvement of the psycho-physical quality of the younger generation; -the increase of professional success rates and quality of life; -the reduction of marketing strategies -the promotion of good practices at the socio-cultural level; -the strengthening of collaboration and operations between different sectors. In the project, the young people examined and experienced food from two perspectives: food in relation to the body and modern eating habits. In the first case, through a process of learning and experience, false social models of thinness and perfection were countered, while in the second case through training and educating young people in the restoration of correct and healthy eating habits. Considering the target beneficiaries of the project, the type of activities implemented and the objectives achieved, the initiative falls under the Erasmus + K1 Youth Action sector programme. Furthermore, a multisectoral approach was implemented, through initiatives that preserve food diversity, traditional diets and eating habits, and those that encourage the reformulation of marketing strategies.
