Objectives

With project “Path to Understanding” we wanted to bring nonviolent communication as a new approach to youth work that fosters both compassion and efficiency to support mutual understanding, as the opposite to radicalisation that we see happening in our society and which can be affecting the young generation. The objectives of the project were: - To bring to youth workers an understanding of basic principles of Nonviolent communication and benefits of using it in different contexts and especially in youth work, as a tool fostering peacebuilding and mutual understanding. - To expand the capacity of participating youth workers in recognising and naming their needs and feelings, as well as to understand needs and feelings of others and name them in an understandable way. - To support youth workers in orientation in difficult communication situations and conflicts, equipping them with tools and techniques that they will be able to apply in their own contexts and deal with conflicts in a constructive way - To support well-being of youth workers through their own ability to recognize their needs and act upon them - To practice empathy, presence and active listening in conversations with others - To create an international network of NVC practitioners in youth work that is able to support each other in a long-term context With this project, we were also linking to following objectives of Erasmus+ programme in the area of youth: - equipping youth workers with competences and methods for their professional development, needed for transferring the common fundamental values of our society, particularly to the hard to reach young people and preventing violent radicalisation of young people as well - reaching out to marginalised young people, promoting diversity, intercultural and interreligious dialogue, common values of freedom, tolerance and respect of human rights
