Objectives

With the rise of hate speech and the increasingly tense situation in Europe, sexism is growing. The roots of sexism lie deep in our societies. Even though sexism is an everyday companion, because of its complexity and entanglement with our culture(s) it is difficult to fully understand it - especially for male-identified persons. Often sexism is only talked about in a superficial matter. Ignoring our everyday involvement in the power structures. Therefore it is important to confront the topic on a personal level, in a very sensitive matter. In this Youth Exchange, we want each individual to enter an intimate and personal journey to develop an awareness and understanding of sexism and gender disparities in their societies and cultures and their role and place in it to reduce sexism behavior on all levels. The Youth Exchange took place In Mtskheta Georgia, where was ensured the creation of a specific learning environment. The participants were challenged to reflect upon their personal behaviors and relationships and the dynamic of the group while always analyzing their individual part in it. The aims of the project were: 1. To encourage active citizenship, by demonstrating to youngsters the ability they hold to make a difference and impact the society, and encouraging them to participate actively in the community. OBJECTIVES: •To set an environment suitable to empower the participants in developing sexism-sensitive behavior •To create an atmosphere of learning through positive encouragement and implementing activities that enable participants to identify and self-assess their learning •The group carried on a project during the whole duration of the youth exchange that came from their own initiative that was related to the main topic of sexism. (we organized a Flash mob, designed a campaign, created a video about the youth exchange) 2. To Enable participants to understand sexism as an obstacle for a peaceful/nonviolent society/Europe OBJECTIVES: •To provide a safe and propitious space for self-reflection for all YE participants regardless of their gender (or religion, origins, sexual orientation) •To create an environment for (nonviolent) discussion by defining collectively the rules and developing trust and empathy between with participants thanks to nonformal learning activities •To use forum theater to challenge social norms that promote gender-based violence •To provide activities to break open the dichotomous concept of gender (masculinity, femininity) •To implement workshops such as the step forward to safely discuss the concept of gender socialization and patriarchy •To provide youth leaders with the necessary skills and sensibility to work in a sexism-free manner and address and handle sexism encounters within their target groups. 3. To put the light on the Erasmus plus program, to reach out to the target groups suitable for Youth Exchanges. At the same time to show the local community how Youth Exchange projects can affect and mobilize youth. OBJECTIVES: •To provide the opportunity for the participants to participate and showcase during local events in Dijon and in each partner countries •To create and carry a "Final project" related to the topic of sexism and created by the participants to ensure the visibility of the project on all levels. 4. To encourage and support intercultural bridging to raise awareness of the complexity of personal identity and deconstruct stereotypes and prejudices. OBJECTIVES: •To create a community where the participants will have to cooperate and help each other and find solutions collectively. •To provide a challenging outdoor activity which will encourage solidarity within the group (Hiking). •To give participants space for them to share their culture from their own viewpoint during intercultural evenings and intercultural events. Participants also gained parallel competences plus supplementary skills like : •Project Management in the European and national level •Collaboration with their respective international-intercultural groups •Task partition and assignment •Facilitation of activities using non-formal learning methods •Self-confidence in realizing and implementing different activities with youth.
