Objectives

This project was designed to address the mental health issues experienced in the aftermath of COVID-19 pandemic. Deep feelings of loneliness, fear and pain related to the loss of loved ones or the loss of your own sense of autonomy was prevailing globally. The amount of stress related to generalized social distancing, economic instability, job uncertainty, illnesses and the overflow of health services or the decrease in access to community and religious support led to the growth in the pathological phenomena related to psychological well-being. We designed this project to equip youth workers with necessary tools to be able to respond to the consequences of COVID-19 on the mental health of youngsters. The specific objectives of the training were: A) Provide a theoretical basis on different types of emotional processes that a (young) person can go through during and after confinement in the COVID-19 crisis. B) Promote the capacity of youth workers to feel competent when working with young people affected by this crisis. C) Introduce a set of tools traditionally used in psychology but adapted to non-formal contexts to deal with pain, loneliness, sadness, demotivation, etc. and to be able to work and support young people with traumatic experiences promoting their emotional well-being. D) Promote the creation of networks among the participants so that they can plan new projects on this topic or others related to Erasmus Plus and the well-being of young people.
