Objectives

Many young people say nowadays that Europe is on the crossroad. The trust in the idea of Europe is decreasing and society tend to return to national divisions. Recent events like Brexit, rising interest in right winged ideologies and Euroscepticism discourage young people to believe in the idea of united Europe. In general, young people’s trust of public institutions at all levels is falling. In addition, whilst most young people support the EU, there are increasing levels of Euroscepticism. The project “EURO-Navi?” developed to change it. The project consisted of two training courses for youth workers and educators of young people that aimed to strengthen solidarity among young Europeans and to encourage them to take the responsibility for shaping the future of Europe. This aim was achieved by: • understanding how young people see Europe today, what are the challenges that result in the luck of trust of young people and in what Europe they want to live in • finding a space for civic engagement of young people and co-creating the future of Europe and preparing youth workers to show young people ways to do it • discussing the role of youth work as a bridge between young people and decision makers • training youth workers to design and run engaging educational programs based on making movies that will empower young people to get involved in decision making • creating a documentary movie showing how young people can influence the future of Europe and promoting it in the form of social campaign
