Objectives

The Youth Exchange "Energy forever? A youth exchange exploring the reasoning and the opportunities of alternative energies" was a non formal learning mobility, which brought together 37 participants from NGOs in Slovakia, Romania, Italy, France, Poland and Germany. There they did visit the wonderful area of Mecklenburg Strelitz and Cispomerania - by bike and tent. Participating youth did travel from Neustrelitz to Neubrandenburg to Greifswald some 150 kilometers and visited over 15 locations, where they encountered different kinds of energy production from renewable sources, but also optimisation of fossile energy and in the end past (nuclear) and future (fusion) energy forms. The main objective was that the participants receive a coherent and also criticial picture of the latest developments in the field of renewable energy. They could gain sufficient understanding of the developments in the field of new energies through peer learning events and excursions. They realised the importance of a working EU driven regulatory framework and the different policies in the field of energy to be able to judge the outlook of transitions taking place in Germany to meet the proclaimed climate goals. The experiences of this exchange equips the participants and their organisations with sound and practical knowledge. They are also able to thoroughly and objectively understand developments in their own countries and to mirrow those results with the ones encountered during their travels. They are also able to develop own initiatives to support progress and hopefully develop own social and entrepreneurial activities in the field of energy production. As this project was an ecological endeavour for all, the participants traveled by bike, slept in tents and cooked their own food to waste as little energy as possible.
