The project partners have been organizing the international youth meeting “We can do it!” for 15 years now. for people with and without disabilities mainly in countries in Central and Eastern Europe and the Caucasus. The main reason the project has lasted so long is because it is supported by an ever-increasing number of volunteers. In the meantime, some people who had taken part in the project as young people 10 or 12 years ago have joined the group leadership team. In 2019, for the first time, in addition to the youth encounter in Azerbaijan, we carried out further training for these volunteers in Berlin with the same project application. Basically, through this training (and the time that the leaders from the individual countries were able to spend together without having to lead the youth exchange at the same time), we noticed how much we prioritized our own training and education above and beyond the work for the young people had neglected further training as volunteer youth work professionals. The further training in Berlin in March 2019 was extremely important for all leaders and we have decided to continue on this path in order to equip youth work professionals with skills and methods that - with the aim of preventing the radicalization of young people - enable the communication of fundamental and shared values of our society.
