In the last few years we have organized a large number of events in the field of ecology (an average of about 20 events per year, separate meetings with young people from the city and the region, as well as various games and workshops for kindergarten children and students from the city and the suburbs). During these events, we realized that many young and old are not very aware of waste treatment and the importance of separating and using water, plastic, paper, glass and metal. Over the past 1-2 years we have seen a change in the people of our city, and this change has been initiated and supported by the young people we work with who are increasingly willing to participate in and even organize ecologically themed events with our support. They are now at the heart of this project, which they believe would be a great help to all of us in our mission to educate people and even reduce some environmental pollution. The main goals of the project were: - To increase their desire to fight against environmental pollution. - To educate children and adults on how to reduce the use of water and plastic in our daily lives. - Educate youth of all ages and backgrounds about the processes involved in working at a wastewater treatment plant. - To make young people of all ages and backgrounds aware of the work processes in a landfill, large or small. - Creating a tool that can be used as an information guide that will provide practical examples of reducing the use of water and plastic in our daily lives. - Increase their knowledge of the Erasmus + program and how they can benefit from it in their future personal and professional development. - To increase their knowledge in the field of project idea development. - To promote active citizenship. Through this project, we hoped to increase public awareness, as it is in all our interests to take care of the environment. This project is the first part of a longer and more extensive information campaign. The next steps will focus on the use of paper, metal and glass, then on the different renewable sources of electricity, and we plan to complete the training cycle on living gardens and permaculture. We decided to start with this project because the majority of the youth feel that this is a fairly serious problem, a solution that can be found very easily and they feel that the results can be seen and communicated more easily. This youth exchange project took place from 12 to 20 July 2021 in Hamburg (with a preparatory phase from 28 to 29 June 2021).
