Societies across Europe are increasingly shaped by migration, unequal living conditions and a wide variety of different lifestyles and socio-cultural backgrounds. Racism, discrimination and marginalization are real and everyday challenges, especially for minorities. The project "Living together in diversity and strengthening social cohesion in Europe" aimed to use the learning effects of international exchange to meet the challenges mentioned, which arise in European societies from the diversity of ways of life and living together. NGOs from originally eight, ultimately due to the generally difficult circumstances six countries, were partners in the project. Intercultural dialogue and systematic network building as well as individual capacity building were promoted between all of them in order to make it easier for marginalized youth from minority contexts to access European youth exchanges in the long term - and thus make a contribution to promoting more social cohesion in Europe. The participating youth workers were sensitized to mechanisms of marginalization and discrimination in Europe and, through best-practice presentations and project visits, learned concrete approaches that youth work can use to counter them. In this way, they received a variety of innovative impulses for implementation in the everyday practice of their youth work. This should enable youth work at the municipal level in the participating regions to benefit from the project. Through (further) qualification of youth workers from minority contexts, they were motivated to participate in international youth exchanges and encouraged to initiate their own exchange activities that expand the civil society participation opportunities of young people from minority contexts. With the introduction of actors who were previously less represented on the "international stage" to the field of international exchange, the capacities of the participants and organizations affected were significantly expanded.
