Objectives

With the “eARTh needs you” Youth Exchange, we had two main objectives in mind - we wanted the participants to become more aware of their impact on the environment and learn how to bring awareness to the topic via photography. As organizers, we wanted to share with them our knowledge on these topics while also letting the participants themselves talk about the environmental situation in their respective home countries. Thanks to that, everyone was able to broaden their horizon and have an active discussion on subjects that they are passionate about. We believe that there are a lot of simple habits we can bring into our everyday lives to minimize our ecological footprint that people often do not think about. Because of that, we wanted to give people real ways to better themselves that in everyday life seem small but will have an overall large impact on one’s life by breaking habits. To make sure that these ideas are not only stuck in this project but also reach a wider audience we had another important aspect in our project. It was to learn the basics of photography and how to use it in a meaningful way to bring awareness to issues that they care about. After the project, all the project partners had to organize an exhibition of the works done during the Youth Exchange to promote both environmental awareness and Erasmus+ opportunities in their local communities. Our project met the following Erasmus+ key action objective: communication both in their mother tongue and foreign languages; digital competence through using their camera and editing programs; learning to learn, by providing them with basic knowledge about photography which they can use to develop their skills further; self-empowerment by taking steps to better their own lives through natural ways and care about the environment as well; self-esteem by being confident in their new skills; enhanced intercultural awareness by living and working in international groups with different cultural backgrounds; more active participation in the society through sharing their meaningful art pieces and understanding how important it is to speak up about the issues they care about; awareness of the European project since we had an informative meeting about Erasmus+; increased motivation in taking part in future educational programs due to having positive and useful experience in this one.
