The need for the project came with the emergence of COVID-19 which highlighted the necessity of values and competencies to live in a constantly changing world. In 2020 we experienced a high level of stress due to the unpredictable reality where we still had to plan our education and career. As young people, we were concerned about the lack of essential skills for learning in pandemic times and that modern education was still mainly rooted in the old-fashioned way of teaching and learning where learners play a passive role. With the project, we wanted to promote internationally the principles of lifelong and active learning as well as self-regulated learning where young people themselves organise and execute their learning process. Therefore, we set several objectives for our youth exchange: 1) To get to know more about the modern way of learning and practice the methods helpful in designing our own learning process; 2) To obtain skills and techniques for self-coaching, self-reflection, self-motivation and self-efficacy; 3) To compare and share distant learning approaches from every participating country as well as the experiences of every participant; 4) To create a set of best practices for participants about the design of self-regulated learning.
