The current convergence of global humanitarian and environmental crises constitutes a considerable strain on the prosperity and stability of European countries but also of the life-support systems of the biosphere. Faced with such challenges the European Commission has recently committed to a European Green Deal for the European Union placing sustainability and the well-being of citizens at the heart of the EU’s policy making and action. This Erasmus+ mobility training welcomes this commitment and intends to contribute in this direction by raising the profile of ‘regeneration’ and its potential to move livelihoods and economies beyond the sustainable, by first and foremost engaging, connecting and empowering youth workers and by extension young people. The training is an integrated theoretical and practical non-formal learning experience on designing and building regenerative habitats. The activities include theoretical and hands-on workshops on: 1. basic principles of bioclimatic design and natural construction techniques; 2. Social Permaculture design which brings together a whole selection of tools to develop not only regenerative food systems but communities; 3. Tai Chi practice with exercises of meditation, self-reflection, non-violent communication and 4. healthy nutrition and collective cooking from garden to plate. It equally involves interactive presentation activities led by participants using open space technology as well as cultural exchange activities (music, art, etc.) and a public event offering the chance to participants and local residents to meet and exchange. Hence, the purposes of this course are the following: - expanding the professional, social and linguistic abilities of the participants and helping them grow on a personal level so they remain motivated and fulfilled in their day-to-day work; -experiential learning in building and renovating in an energy and resource efficient way; social permaculture principles and ethics and healthy nutrition that can provide high quality local jobs and promote participation in the labor market; - increasing the quality of the services offered by the participants and their organisations, for the benefit of many, especially young people and social entrepreneurs (services better suited to the actual needs, using active and collaborative methods, development of civic awareness and engagement); - improving the mental, emotional, social and physical health and well being of youth workers through the practice of tai chi and healthy nutrition in community; - intercultural dialogue, social inclusion and solidarity between European actors fostering sustainable and inclusive development in Europe.
