The goal of this project was to promote rural life in Spain. Throughout the entire length of the project, the main purposes were to set a group from different nationalities and get them to team-up in order to debate, work, gather ideas and live together regarding the situations that a Rural environment could present. By isolating ourselves in a small village (Villanueva de Guadamejud) with barely fifty inhabitants we intended to emulate the “native-experience” and get to know the main necessities of rural areas, both at infrastructural and humanitarian levels. After a few days we expected the participants to empathize and to get used to the lack of public services we understand as essential in more populated areas. Once the participants are aware of the specifical necessities of the rural areas, we expect them to promote team building among them in order to reach agreements. Since there are no distractions at the village or the accommodation, we expect the participant to grow strong bonds among them, which will be something that encourages team building, friendship and having a positive atmosphere for working and sharing free-time together. Once our participants get used to the village and all their natural restrictions they will understand better the lack of infrastructure. By carrying out the activities programmed, we plan that the participants get more and more involved with the topic of the project progressively. Most of the activities, although they are different from one another, are directed to propose possible solutions to the lack of infrastructure, analyze the potential benefits from living in the rural area in favor of the city areas following environmental, psychological, physical and social approaches. Furthermore, we expect the participants to build strong bonds thanks to the importance of team building as well as the “semi-isolated” atmosphere that will carry us during all the project. This will be pursued also by many other activities that are not strictly related to the topic of the project, such as: cultural nights from all participant countries, games, sports, hikings, talks, etc. By creating these activities, we want the participants to expand their intercultural limits, to get to know more about the rest of the participant’s countries, such as: their culture, their geography, popular songs, a little bit of their language, etc. To conclude with, all the activities, explanations, and general cohabitation will be developed using English, which is not the native language of any participant country. We expect the participants to improve their English language proficiency by spending ten days living in a multicultural European community.
