In October 2022 (October 15-23) we have carried out Circus to the Rescue, bringing together 34 young people from Finland, Italy, Hungary, Greece in Gran Canaria to promote social inclusion, and today more than ever solidarity in various European communities. Circus to The Rescue is the ninth consecutive 2020 edition implemented on the island of Gran Canaria, the capital island of the UPR region of the EU. We had to postpone the execution of the project for 2 years due to the health emergency situation in the country and in the world. We have drafted this project in full state of alarm, ensuring a clear impact in the local communities of our regular partners, making young protagonists clear, clear ideas coming out of them for this edition, supporting their participation and learning throughout the entire project cycle. . We believe that now more than ever our young people feel even more isolated and separated from the world and that it is more difficult for them than ever to feel included in society. Due to the remoteness of the continent, youth unemployment rates among the highest in the union, we have to highlight the great challenge that is present in all the international activities managed by Mojo de Caña: make ERASMUS+ known and the opportunities offered by the program to Canarian youth, treating the mobility experience beyond educational fields, emphasizing the value on a personal level, development of soft-skills, expanding the comfort zone in intercultural contexts, questioning stigmas to grow holistically as individuals and European society united. Our challenge has always been to bring the reality of the continent closer to Canarian youth, to make them feel European policies, realities and institutions as their own and an active part of their daily lives. Always working with social circus as a tool for expression, freedom, creativity and union, it seems fundamental to us to deal with concepts such as diversity, union, integration, equity in a dynamic world, in constant change, where more than ever we are aware of the importance of solidarity societies, open and collaborative The theme of integration and coexistence seems fundamental to us in a world where it is increasingly easy to move and live in other countries, but the barriers that prevent the integration of individuals are growing. Apart from integration, we think it is very important to give young people a voice, leaving them space and time to discover and explore their talents. For this reason, the young artists, supported by their entities and coordinators, used their talents as a universal language to address issues of inclusion, human rights and diversity, overcoming linguistic and social barriers. Throughout the week, within the framework of ENF and in direct contact with the local community, young participants created a common show, like every year. And, as always, we have included participants with Down syndrome both in the preparation of the workshops and in the creation and performance of the final show. At the end of the meeting we have donated the funds to the members of the Association Down Las Palmas. In summary, Circus to the Rescue had as objectives: - Create direct contact with local communities generating inclusive actions - Foster solidarity through circus arts - Support social inclusion and human rights through circus arts - Dealing with active, open and European citizenship through freedom, creativity and union - development of skills in intercultural and dynamic environments - recognize broad youth work competencies - Publicize the ERASMUS+ program
