The aim of "Game Design for Global Justice" was that youth workers from partner organisations could acquire the knowledge and skills on facilitating a game design process with their youth groups to promote Global Justice and work on the inequalities and conflicts youth is facing. The starting point and common ground agreed with all the partners is that the process of designing a game is itself a powerful and valuable learning process. Youth workers participants in this project learnt how to facilitate this process with a group of young people so that later on they will be able to reproduce it in their home countries. Beyond producing new games, the focus of this project is on how to make it a meaningful learning process in which valuable insights arise. The subject of the game design process has been stated as "Global Justice", a very broad field, so that all the partners fit, from the ones that promote social economy to the ones that fight against discrimination such as racism, homophobia or gender issues. Even though "Global Justice" may sound too broad and abstract to tackle, the intention was that the game design processes that took place during the training course and later on in the home countries could be narrowed into a specific and restricted subject of choice of the game designers group. Our objectives were to: - Provide youth workers with practical knowledge and skills in facilitating Game Design processes adapted to their work with young people (some facing fewer opportunities) aiming at their empowerment. - Share a framework for making the Game Design process a meaningful learning experience. - Explore how the Game Design process needs to be adapted to different target groups and social contexts and situations. - Create a set of high quality educational games on Global Justice topics in the frame of non-formal education and experiential learning. - Develop the "Game Design for Global Justice" compilation booklet, compiling the Educational Games created and tested by the participants, and share it with organisations working for the empowerment of youth from the Global Justice perspective. - Initiate an international network of youth organisations working on Global Justice for youth with the focus on using Game Design processes in their work.
