Objectives

Since 2001 association Mojo de Caña has been working with and for the Canarian youth, implementing different activities and projects that transversally support the personal development of young people, promote human rights, promote social inclusion and citizen participation, etc. After experiences in previous projects, in which Social Inclusion is the central theme, and with which we have been able to make progress in the daily work with young people carried out by our workers and volunteers, we are detecting each time on a national and international level that the reality of working with young people with fewer opportunities is usually located in the urban environment and that activities take place within the city. At the time of writing this application, we are in the midst of a Covid-19 crisis the consequences of such isolation for mental and physical well-being are enormous and will require a long recovery. Activities in nature and the environment will be essential to process this difficult period, offering an escape from confinement, the stress of the city and a connection with nature and your inner world. Outdoor activities offer innovative alternatives, being a powerful tool for working with young people in the non-formal sphere. More and more studies show that spending time in a natural environment brings benefits about well-being and health (shinrin yoku). Nature activities also promote healthy lifestyle habits, based on physical activity, food and skills. When it comes to outdoor activities, in the natural environment, you constantly experiment with the environment, favouring experiential learning: it is an ideal way to see, feel, discover and explore. Just as the activities require participation in the programming, in the decision-making, in the preparation of the equipment, the itinerary, the necessary resources. Therefore, on behalf of Mojo de Caña we want to propose new innovative activities adjusting to current circumstances, offering answers and solutions to detected demands. The Green State of MInd proposal aims to bring together 15 youth workers from 6 European countries, working within the framework of non-formal education, outdoor education and experiential education, complementary methodologies when carrying out youth activities. 12 youth workers will participate in this project (Poland, Belgium, Greece, Rumania, Italy and Spain), 2 facilitators and a logistics manager with the title of mountain technician I and II. Working in an international context, thanks to the ERASMUS + program, we aim to achieve the following objectives, based on the premises of the program: - introduce the basic concepts of “Outoor Education” (OE onwards) and “Adventure Outdoor Education” (AOE) and emphasize the added value of activities in nature with young people - treat and recognize learning processes in OE and AOE activities - share experiences and good practices among partners, creating new synergies between people and participating entities - share the basic foundations of safety management and risk prevention in activities in nature, ensuring personal well-being and promoting social inclusion through extensive activities - learning by doing: managing activity in nature in a direct and practical way, acquiring skills participating in trekking / camping in the mountains of Gran Canaria In line with the Erasmus + objectives, this course helps participants acquire new knowledge, skills and competences, which will increase the quality of their work with a direct impact on their users / communities. With the knowledge acquired, participants will be invited to implement similar activities, adjusting to their contexts and resources. With this TC we aim to build a network of organizations that combine activities in nature with social work and non-formal learning. In addition, since the participants come from 6 different countries, living together during the seminar will increase awareness and understanding of other cultures and countries. These contacts will facilitate the formation of synergies and the organization of similar activities in the near future with ERASMUS + as a framework.
