Objectives

The main objective of the project was to provide and equip youth workers with artistic methods and tools to work with young people facing social inequalities (from now on, it is used the acronym YPFSI). In this way, we wanted to promote an alternative way for them to express and communicate their thoughts and feelings. This is especially important for individuals that are facing social inequalities and fewer opportunities since it can allow them to relieve the pressure and help them to deal better with the situations or obstacles that they may be facing. One of the main points that we wanted to highlight and tackle in the project is that art can be performed only by talented people, as well as that the result is more important than the process of creating and expressing. That’s why throughout the project, a lot of emphases was set on realizing and reflecting on the benefits that the creative process may bring to the individuals that practice it. From our initial discussions and research with our partner organizations as well as youth workers, we got the feedback that the main artistic method that was being used was theatre and drama. Therefore, one of the objectives of the project was also to provide alternative artistic disciplines that could be interesting and engaging for YPFSI. In relation to the implementation of the project, we wanted the participants to: -Gain knowledge about at least 3 different artistic methods (Photography, Circus and body awareness, and Painting) that they could use in their work with YPFSI. -Practice among the participants the different artistic methods taught. Then, to practice the acquired competencies, to implement a workshop in a local organization of Terrassa that deals with YPFSI. -Improve their attitude towards artistic methods so that they are more confident and motivated to use them in work with YPFSI. -Raise and spread awareness of the potential benefits that art can bring into the educational and psychological field, with a special focus on non-formal education. In addition, with the implementation of the project, we wanted also to raise awareness of the diversity and number of opportunities that youngsters and YPFSI have within the European and Erasmus+ Framework. This can support them in their personal and professional development, helping them to overcome some of the difficulties that they may be in (economic obstacles, social obstacles, cultural differences, etc.). Finally, we wanted also to strengthen and show to the different participants and partner organizations, the artistic network that has been developing in the city of Terrassa during the last years. Promoting thus the collaboration between organizations and performing collective projects and initiatives.
