Objectives

Environment and Youth was 2-part Youth exchange. Planned schedule was: Activity #1: YE in Inari, Finland (6 days + 2 travel days) 1st – 8th of April in 2021 Activity #2: YE in Kobuleti, Georgia (6 days +2 travel days) 1st – 8th of June in 2021, but due to covid pandemic, the implementation was delayed, and project was eventually implemented in 2023 April 20.-27. in Finland and June 1.-8. in Georgia. The project “Environment and Youth" was youth exchange that addressed environmental issues, through artistic creativity. Making proper use of these tools we wanted to raise public awareness, related to environmental challenges in the European and local levels. We wanted to implement the project because in the world the environmental problems still stay as one of the main issues. Despite the fact, there are lots of projects addressing environmental problems. Still it is not enough and still, people who live in deplorable conditions need support and involvement in solving environmental issues. Youth from Slovenia, Finland, and Georgia cooperated through different art workshops to achieve a common goal. The main focus of this inter-cultural exchange was to work together as a group and raise the awareness of maintaining clean environment problem, first between peers and participants of the project and afterward to our local societies. The project’s direct target group is participants age 13-17 years old, who are the next generation that will basically design our future, as well as the future of a whole planet. Someday, they will be independent decision-makers, educators, and, who knows, maybe they will once become a worldwide known policy-maker. During this project, participants learned by doing about YE topics, eco-friendly and responsible day-to-day life choices habits. The project aimed to promote environmental inclusion among youth from different countries, trough youth exchange. The aim of the project also was encouraging youth on how to prevent pollution, to spread information about environmental problems to the local community. Core objectives: - To gain necessary skills, knowledge, and attitudes on the inclusion of young people in activities which are connected to environmental issues; - To share opinions, approaches, experience, and information on environmental situation and issues among participating countries by methods of non-formal education and learning from each other; - To find ways how to solve environmental problems in each country; - To promote healthy lifestyle activities for young people, in terms of environmental protection; - To raise awareness about recycling through artistic activities and workshops among young people; - To increase the awareness about environmental pollution and its effect on our health; - To give young people an example of cooperation on the international level and encourage them to undertake similar activities in the future; Also, one aspect of this project is to involve rural youth in active social environmental activities back to their hometowns spreading eco-thinking. The main purpose of the project was to bring together youth, to exchange knowledge about environmental problems in their home countries and share ideas how to protect our nature, our health and reduce pollution by recycling, also how to convert waste materials into new products to prevent waste of potentially useful materials and how to re-use them instead, reduce the consumption of fresh raw materials, reduce energy usage, reduce air pollution and water pollution. The program also aims to promote tolerance, pluralism and respect, exchange ‘best practice’, experiences of multicultural societies and encourage cross-border cooperation, the project will encourage youth on how to prevent pollution, to spread the information about environmental problems to the local community.
