Objectives

The theme of our youth exchange was nature and human-ecosystem relationship. The idea for the theme came up from the concern of young adults' connection to nature while the world is slowly urbanizing. Human-ecosystem relationship can be unfamiliar concept for the youngsters and it might be they have never spent that much time in the wilderness nor have they practiced their survival skills. We don't want the youngsters to lose touch with the nature and that's the aim of this project, to bring them closer to nature. It gives opportunities to practice agriculture and in outdoors the one can relax and and find it's roots. Usually there is no natureclubs for adults as the same way there is for kids where they could learn survival skills and spend time in the nature thinking their own human-ecosystem relationship. The youngster who are participating to the youth exchange are interested in the nature, having an impact and want to learn by doing. They want to learn to find their own human-ecosystem relationship and find the meaning of nature in their own lives while most of them are living in the cities. The participants are coming from different kind of life situations and occupations and this gives us good perspective for the project's theme and opportunities to learn and share new information. The youngsters are concerned about the climate crisis which changes and destroys nature. If you have lived in a city for your whole life it can be difficult to understand the concrete impact of the climate crisis. By knowing and experiencing nature and it's diversity can help the youngsters to understand more practical way what climate crisis is about. By that they can act more efficient in their own daily life to slow down the climate crisis. The aim of this is exchange is to help the youngsters to understand better how the climate crisis and the changing nature impacts on business in their own and fellow participants countries'. The project took a place in Inari, Lapland, Finland. The nature in Lapland is beautiful and unique. Agriculture is practiced there as also nature tourism. Even all Finns haven't visited Lapland nor are they familiar with the nature and it's opportunities and dangers. That's why Lapland was selected. It was a great fit for the theme and gave for every participant something new. Finland's Lapland is partially inhabited by the only native people in Europe, Sami-people. Because Lapland is so strongly linked to them it was only naturally to get to know to their culture and lifestyle. By that, participants learnt to cherish and understand the natives.
