Objectives

Young people across Europe spend a lot of time each day consuming media, but are generally not prepared for conscious media consumption because no one has taught them how to manage media smog, select content from quality and to decode the messages. . The transmission of such knowledge is not usually done in public education. The task of preparing young people is therefore entrusted to youth workers. Unfortunately, most of the time, youth workers themselves lack information and adequate training materials for formal and non-formal teaching of media literacy. The main objective of the project is to enable participating youth leaders to teach the young people with whom they work to be more aware media consumers and to critically analyze the information they receive. With the use of learning methods and processes, our main goal is to promote media literacy and teach methods of learning through non-formal methods. During the training, participants will analyze and address the project theme through presentations, group work, joint and individual activities, so that each participant takes an active part in each activity. Objectives of the seminar: - Exchange experiences in media education through non-formal education; - Exchange and collect creative tools, activities and methodologies for media literacy (active use of the media, critical reflection on the media), promotion of intercultural tolerance and understanding through new media; - Developing new tools that will help to combat growing intolerance and xenophobia among young people and the challenges that bring new media; - Build a positive and open attitude towards new technologies and the use of the Internet as a tool to facilitate effective collaboration with young people - Bring together people from different (professional) backgrounds to share their experiences with young people and develop creative digital methods for youth work The seminar for youth leaders will take place from 21st to 29 of September 2020 in Toulouse. It will bring together 29 participants from Bulgaria, Spain, France, Greece, Romania, Poland and Turkey.
