Due to industrialization and urbanization in the globalized world, sources are used unconsciously, resulting in the production of waste. The pressure of human activities on the environment is increasing both in our country and worldwide. This process makes the intensive use of natural sources inevitable, and the waste resulting from the growing trend of consumption is a threat to the environment and human health due to its quantity and harmful ingredients. Naturally, this reveals the need for recycling. Recycling means that waste is reused in production, which benefits the economy. It is therefore an explicit contribution to the economy and an implicit contribution to the environment. During these events, we realized that many young and old are not very aware of waste treatment and the importance of separating and using water, plastic, paper, glass and metal. Over the past two years, we have seen a change in the population of our city, and this change has been initiated and supported by the young people we work with, who are increasingly willing to participate and even organize ecologically themed events with our support. They are now at the heart of this project, which they say has helped us all in our mission to educate people and even reduce some environmental pollution. Hazardous materials in waste spill into nature unchecked and cause irrevocable damage if not collected properly, recycled or disposed of. Through this project, we wanted to raise awareness about the use of waste and the benefits of recycling for the environment and living beings. The objectives of our project, which was designed through this goal, are as follows: - Instill awareness of environmental responsibility - To develop positive behaviors regarding recycled products, - Increase their desire to fight against environmental pollution. - Educate children and adults on how to reduce the use of water and plastic in our daily lives. - Educate youth of all ages and backgrounds on the processes involved in working in a wastewater treatment plant. - To provide people with an idea on how to reuse waste that can be recycled, - To educate people to leave a cleaner environment for future generations, - To make consumers aware of what they need to pay attention to before/during/after purchasing products, - Increase people's preference for purchasing recyclable products and packaging, - To enable people to understand the importance of recycling in terms of sustainable consumption and environmental protection, - To enable children to become aware of the importance of recycling and to increase their environmental awareness, - Increase the recognition of the Erasmus+ program and participation in the project, - To raise awareness of the concepts of equal opportunities and gender equality, - Develop tolerant attitudes towards different cultures and ways of life, - Raise awareness of global issues, - To enable young people to increase their creativity and improve their skills, - To raise awareness of the importance of volunteer activities, - Contribute to the elimination of prejudice and cultural awareness. Through this project, we have raised public awareness, as it is in all of our interests to take care of the environment. This project is the first part of a longer and more extensive information campaign. The next steps will be the use of paper, metal and glass, then the different renewable sources of electricity, and we plan to complete the training cycle on living gardens and permaculture. We decided to start with this project because the majority of the youth feel that this is a fairly serious problem, a solution that can be found very easily and they feel that the results can be seen and communicated more easily. This youth exchange project took place from 13 to 18 December 2021 in Noisy-le-Grand (with a preparatory phase from 11 to 12 November 2021).
