Initiated in 2020, the aim of the "EN PLACE" project in Portugal was to enable young people who were questioning their integration pathway and lacking confidence to take part in a project that would make them feel confident, curious and involved. The project consisted of an exchange with young people from Portugal through the creation of an artistic and original work combining writing, dance, music and the production of a video clip. This project also aimed to help young people find their voice in European society, in which each participant must take part through international contact. The objectives for the French group are to encourage the recovery of confidence, a better knowledge of oneself and one's skills, and the desire to build a future. The teaching methods proposed are based on learning methods that value risk-taking and the right to make mistakes: learning and understanding through experience and action. Our Portuguese partner KIMERA comes from the district "Cova da Moura, an informal suburb in the north-west of Lisbon, which shows another reality of this capital city, reminiscent of the favelas of Brazil, populated in large part by Lisbon's population of African origin. The inhabitants, most of whom are from the former Portuguese colonies, have had to fight to obtain electricity and sewage. For more than 40 years, this neighbourhood has been suffering from exclusion and great insecurity. However, rap culture and artistic expression are flourishing there, to the point of becoming a tourist attraction with its murals. Kimera works to ensure that education is offered to all, even the most disadvantaged. Like DK-BEL, Kimera uses artistic and cultural practices as a priority, as they are an essential medium for working on social skills and encouraging the appropriation of different means of communication, including oral and written expression. Developing a range of cultural and artistic expression workshops and accompanying the public who are far away from culture to support them in all forms of expression is a common point between our two structures. This is why the desire to develop a common project, which starts with each of the participants and develops through the sharing of expression and culture, was born. Because of COVID, the project had to be postponed several times before it could be carried out from 24 to 30 June 2022.
