The issue of gender equality is an important issue for today's society. "Achieving gender equality and empowering all women and girls" is one of the Sustainable Development Goals. Over the past decade, the 4th wave of feminism has emerged. Where previous waves brought women's right to vote, female political representation, access to education and to the profession of one's choice, the acquisition of social rights and gave women a voice, the 4th wave of feminism focuses on struggles for a more global change: fight against sexism in everyday life, against gendered social representations or against sexual harassment and rape culture. In all its activities, our association seeks to fight against discrimination and to promote the values of inclusion and equality. Working with youth, we want to highlight the importance of women and men having access to the same opportunities regardless of their culture, religion, gender or place of birth, and without being constrained by social expectations of "feminine" and "masculine". Throughout the year, our association organizes public events on the subject of discrimination, addresses the issue of gender equality in the training of volunteers and animation teams, or with young people during international volunteer work camps. This youth exchange project on the theme of gender equality is therefore in line with our actions. With this project, we wanted to encourage a better understanding of the notion of gender and its social stakes by the participants, to encourage exchanges and debates between young people from different countries on this theme, on the problems encountered in each country but also on the solutions brought, to allow the contribution of knowledge and ideas of awareness-raising tools thanks to the interventions of local associations. Our project was built with partners from geographically distant countries, French, Greek, Spanish and Estonian, which made the exchanges particularly interesting. Our objective was to develop the critical spirit of the participants and their open-mindedness, to inspire them to become committed European citizens and to become drivers of change once they return to their countries of origin, by reusing the knowledge and awareness-raising tools created with various audiences (relatives, friends, associations...) The methodology will necessarily be participatory (ice-breakers, role-playing, thematic discussions combined with specialization time, practical workshops, visits to local projects, case studies, focus groups, small group and/or plenary discussions). In fact, participants will be encouraged to play an active role in the learning process. In the project as it was imagined, the exchange of young people was also to allow the meeting between young Europeans and local youth, so that it could spread on the territory. The objective for the partner associations was to re-question our practices and to develop our competences in terms of inclusion of our publics, in particular under the angle of gender equality, to be able to widen our knowledge on the theme in other European countries and to be enriched by the reflections and views of the participants and their proposals for action. In brief, this youth exchange was in line with this following objectives of the Erasmus+ Program : - to encourage intercultural dialogue - to encourage young people to be open to others - to develop the active participation of young people in society - to encourage a European citizenship - to sharpen the critical spirit of young people - to allow the development of skills - to value non-formal education - promote international mobility - to strive for a sustainable, egalitarian and inclusive society. This project is fully aligned with Sustainable Development Goal #5 "Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls"
