With this project we addressed the need for increasing youth worker’s knowledge of how gamification can be used in a non-formal learning setting when focusing on fostering specific values and attitudes. The need for the project became apparent during the COVID-19 lockdowns. In our countries we had deep concern not only for the economy, healthcare systems, and overall wellbeing of the citizens, we also unfortunately rising concerns of xenophobia, intolerance, and general attitude of mistrust between people, especially towards those who come from different country or background. And since we have noticed long ago that the most effective and attitude-changing tools and methods have some level of gamification in them, we decided that the best way to tackle those negative tendencies and promote the values of solidarity, mutual support and interculturalism would be through equipping youth workers in our NGOs with knowledge of gamification methodology as well as letting them create their own gamified tools. Specifically, the main aim of the project was: - To introduce the gamification tools and methods and encourage using them in youth work, specifically when working with fundamental values and attitudes of solidarity, inclusion and multiculturalism We aimed to achieve this goal by fulfilling 4 main objectives, namely: 1. to present gamification methodology and the ways it can be used by youth workers, 2. to explore how fundamental values and attitudes can be transferred and enhanced through gamification 3. to boost participant’s skills of facilitation and group management, 4. to support youth workers in the process of creating unique games with educational impact Finally, our course specifically addressed the need to explore and develop on how values and attitudes can be transmitted through the gamified activities, as we already had a great positive experience with this in our work and wanted to deepen and multiply this endeavor.
