Objectives

The ‘Adaptable Global Intentional Living Empowering Learning’ training aimed to make Agile learning, an emerging and powerful innovative approach to learning, more widely known and to disseminate the relevant knowledge, skills and attitudes so that a growing number of people can be inspired, regain confidence that they have a powerful toolbox and approach with which to take initiative and carry through bold visions in an increasingly intertwined universal community. The 14-day immersive, collaborative, playful experience was held within The Southern Lights project regenerative food forest, an environment that enhanced pârticipants’ understanding of "natural learning, in nature". The training was also an opportunity for youth workers to meet and exchange in person with leaders of innovative social and environmental projects from rural, rurban and urban contexts. Sharing the daily life of The Southern Lights project (receiving organization) they discovered the different facets of their projects and learned from their past and current difficulties, thus making them capable to respond to questions that the people they work with may face in their socio-professional integration or project development. The training was intended to function as a launching pad for entrepreneurs, educators but also for socially innovative organizations wishing to transform into pulsating environments of autonomy, collaboration and creativity. It sought to enhance and reinforce the competences of 31 youth workers and youth leaders from 6 different organizations and 5 different countries of the European Union and neighboring country, Egypt, so that they are capable to put into practice the training outcomes in the projects that they are involved in and to transmit efficiently the experience and skills gained to the audiences they work with, and especially youth, young people facing work precarity or unemployment, youth from rural areas seeking employment or at an early stage of career development. The purposes of this training course were the following: - expanding the professional, social and linguistic abilities of the participants and helping them grow on a personal level so they remain motivated and fulfilled in their day-to-day work; - experiential learning in Agile learning philosophy and facilitation practice that can provide high quality jobs; - increasing the quality of the services offered by the participants and their organisations, for the benefit of many, especially young people and social entrepreneurs (services better suited to the actual needs, using active and collaborative methods to ease the participation of each person in the process of taking collective action, acknowledging their critical opinion and creativity and encouraging them to make use of their power and develop their civic awareness and engagement); - assisting the workers in the field of social innovation, and especially youth and social workers in adopting a new and more diverse range of agile working methods; - generating new connections and encouraging cooperation between European and Mediterranean stakeholders actively promoting active citizenship and inclusive sustainable development throughout Europe and its neighbouring countries.
