Objectives

The project «Happy Mind, Happy Life» was held in Damvillers, France. It united young people from 5 countries. This youth project created by “Together” and partners consisted of a youth exchange and APV dedicated to youth people and aiming to develop competences, using non-formal education methods for the promotion of youth happiness. During one of the previous youth exchanges open sessions, the problematic about mental health was suggested to us by the participants. We and partners found it very important and interesting and this is the main reason why we created this youth project. The aim of the exchange was to unite young people around the very important topic of mental health, help them to understand that they are responsible for their own way to happiness, and find the possible solutions to achieve it based on the competences received during the project’s process. Getting new abilities of self-development, young people will later share it with their local peers and this will make the results of the exchange even wider. This was achieved through such follow-up activities as a 90-day plan to become happier and the presentation of the films created during the exchange on a local level, etc. The objectives of the youth exchange were: - To raise awareness on the importance of non-formal and self-education and its principles, which will be realised in such activities as “What Can I Do To Be Happy?”, “Dealing With Emotions”, etc.; - To introduce examples of non-formal education methods that can be used in mental health promotion. Example, workshop – “Dealing With Stress”; - To help participants understand that we view life through different lenses, to understand the role of thoughts, emotions, and behaviors in our life by linking them to personal experiences. Activity “Photos of my life”; - To develop competences in designing and implementing activities which promote mental health, based on non-formal education methods (“Film making” on the exchange’s thematic, “Mandala” workshop, etc.); - To exchange practices and experiences in mental health care methods from different countries and ways to achieve happiness among young people.
