Objectives

Considering the situation with a high unemployment rate in all participating countries, we wanted to demonstrate the opportunities that are offered to young people closer to them in their own local communities, but also to create preconditions for the further growth and development of each individual, which will happen by knowing the available resources in their vicinity. Special emphasis is placed on all periods, from short-term to medium- and long-term, in terms of growth and development of young people who have learned that everything should be now and/or happen in a very short time. This is something that we recognized in all countries by communicating with the participants before the exchange itself and that we could not have predicted, but since we recognized it, the time component of the growth and development of a young person was also emphasized in terms of understanding the effort and work that is needed for certain advances As of 2019, when the exchange was planned, youth unemployment rates were worrying as Greece recorded 33.0%, Spain 32.2%, Croatia 19.3%, Italy 27.1% and Romania 16.8% - which is still above the European average of 14.9% according to Eurostat. Although this was the basis for the implementation of the exchange, the situation with covid-19 also contributed to other difficulties faced by both the young people and their families. Therefore, through all activities in the project, we promoted initiatives that can currently be used in the European Union, with the aim of increasing the employability of young people in the short term, but also by exploring more deeply the possibilities available to them in order to use and improve their abilities for a better position on labor market in the future. It was important for us to include people who are in NEET status with each partner, which partly succeeded because almost all of them had at least one participant in that status, but the project also included people who have been working with for some time in in the sense of increasing their skills, but also their self-confidence so that they can join the labor market as soon as possible despite the difficulties they face in their environment and which make their integration difficult. We must also mention the intensive work that is visible from all partners during the entire project, who, when necessary, worked individually with all those who really needed help in order to overcome various difficulties, as well as a high degree of sensitivity when it comes to different groups of young people (persons belonging to different minorities and deprived groups in certain societies). This project aims to contribute to solving these unemployment challenges in which the EU invests great efforts. We focused on the personal level of each participant and on the local level where a young person lives every day and seeks his place in the labor market, to the extent that this is realistically possible by the project partners. The goal was to create a stimulating environment in which participants can use the tools and elements of informal education for the purpose of their personal and professional development in order to increase their chances of integration into the labor market, but also in the future through increasing awareness of themselves and the possibilities that are possible use. In accordance with the goals we set, we wanted to achieve the following: 1. Facilitate the understanding of the theoretical part behind the causes that make it difficult to integrate a young person into the labor market and the associated risks, which we succeeded in through the prepared workshops. 2. Facilitate the research of personal abilities and potential through the implementation of 4 workshops during 2 days of personal development so that participants become aware of the abilities, talents and values they possess, which was achieved through workshops with young people from the local community. The workshops were completely designed and implemented by the exchange participants. 3. Involve participants in informal activities aimed at developing their social, civic and multicultural skills and attitudes necessary for sustainable integration of the workforce, as well as for promoting the values of the European Union, which was achieved through workshops that were also held in the local community. 4. To offer the participants an opportunity to prove their skills and knowledge acquired through the project by creating 6 workshops on the development of soft skills that will be held for high school students for one day in a local school / non-governmental organization. This segment was realized during the duration of the project through workshops for young people from the local community, and after the exchange, workshops were also conducted with young people in their communities, which confirms the achievement of all the set goals of this youth exchange.
