Objectives

Project was created based on a common need to empower youth organisations (through empowering youth workers and youth leaders active within them) with training and cooperation opportunities, to develop their professionalism and to address the European dimension of youth work. We recognised that lack of educational opportunities can have inner difficulties for youth workers, such as lack of self-confidence, lack of skills, insufficient leadership capabilities and similar. By implementing the “Learning Balloon” project we wanted to equip youth workers and youth leaders with skills and methods (both in individual and group work) needed to facilitate youth on their learning paths. Through this project we wanted to provide new learning opportunities for youth workers and youth leaders by offering space for development of cognitive, effective and practical competences and skills, as well as to develop confidence in their unique learning process. In this way, we gave them new approach by experiencing a variety of methods through an intercultural dimension, which will help them to support the youth they are working with. The main objectives of the “Learning Balloon” training course were to: deeply understand non-formal education and life-long learning, its characteristics and purpose in intercultural dimension; develop the capacity and professionalism of youth workers and youth leaders in the field of the non - formal education which leads to civic engagement and responsible citizenship; promote European cooperation in the field of youth and creating equal opportunities for their education through intercultural sharing and exchange of good practices. The specific objectives were to: enable exchanges of best practice, experiences and expertise while promoting a more democratic, civic and social Europe, provide strengthening of youth workers and youth leaders self-confidence in NFE, developing their creativity, and empowering their cognitive, effective and practical skills, develop facilitation skills needed to deliver quality NFE programs in a manner that encourages participation, ownership and creativity by all those involved. Most of the partner organisations and participants (except the applicant organisation and Romanian partner) were from non - EU countries and this way we want to offer opportunities to youth workers that usually don’t have access to such opportunities. Also, most of the participants were inexperienced youth leaders, first - timers in the Erasmus + program, which was the whole idea of this project - to support inexperienced youth workers and youth leaders that usually don’t have learning mobility opportunities.
