Objectives

This project is designed with the idea to (i) increase the social inclusion of young people and (ii) raise their awareness of the current global environmental issue of waste. The project will gather 30 youngsters from Croatia, France, Greece, Georgia, The Republic of North Macedonia and Poland on a 10 day Youth Exchange in Veliki Žitnik in Croatia. Young people with fewer opportunities rarely have a chance to travel to a foreign country and experience an empowering international environment, being surrounded with their peers from different countries and supported by the methods of non-formal education and experiential learning. This Youth Exchange aims to provide those youngsters with the opportunity for valuable new experiences and knowledge, empowering them and stimulating their personal and professional growth. Environmental issues and the negative human impact on the environment are a big challenge in today’s society. Unfortunately, many young people are becoming more and more passive and ignorant towards the negative human impact on the environment because they feel excluded or powerless in terms of making changes. This Youth Exchange will tackle the ignorance of youngsters towards the environmental issues by bringing them closer to the global issue of waste through fun and interactive approach and help them raise their awareness and sense of responsibility towards their environment. Using the non-formal learning methods and experiential learning, the project will equip the youngsters with all the necessary resources to become active and responsible citizens and empower them to seek solutions for the environmental issues in their local communities. Through learning how to adopt simple environmentally friendly habits, the participants will be inspired to develop a more sustainable living. The main objectives of the project are in line both with Erasmus+ programme objectives and aims and with the objectives of KA1 mobility projects. These objectives are: (i) inclusion of young people with fewer opportunities, (ii) promoting diversity of cultures and lifestyles, (iii) spreading awareness of the global environmental issues, (iv) promoting critical thinking, (v) developing a sense of social initiative and entrepreneurship and enhancing young peoples’ presentation and business planning skills and (vi) empowering young people to take an active role in society.
