Human behavior is an important factor in determining the stray dogs’ population dynamics. It is important to be a responsible dog’s owner and give the possibility to people to learn to become one. “Youth For Stray Dogs” project gives opportunity to young people to help stray and sheltered dogs, by collaborating with local dog shelters and raising awareness to the community about responsible dogs’ ownership. Participants will be actively involved in the project by doing practical activities for providing capacity’s support for dogs and by representing the voice for those who cannot speak. For example, they will collaborate with local dog shelters by reusing materials and create toys and sweaters for dogs and they will collect information about stray dogs and cinofilia, for creating a brochure with useful information and tips to share during a public event in Zadar, Croatia. As well, they will more directly help stray dogs, by installing food and water dispensers in the city of Pyrgos, in Greece. In their local communities, they will do an activity for informing the local community and increase the empathy of society for the stray animals. Main objectives are: - to promote responsible dog ownership among youth by giving them the opportunity to exchange knowledge and skills in the protection of animal rights - to increase the sense of initiative of youth by supporting them to help local dog shelters, to search and find solutions about stray dogs and to promote animal rights in local communities - to improve empathy of youth by giving them the opportunity to exchange knowledge, emotions, and skills in the international team about/with dogs and local community With the sensitivity and determination of youth, these goals can be achieved.
