Young people spend enormous amount of time online mostly on social media – Instagram and TikTok which unfortunately has much more negative effects than benefits: -it’s addictive – youth no longer consciously choose to use social media but rather cannot “not use it” -distorted view on reality – people share only good and often faked lives on social media but youth struggle to recognize that and they seek to achieve the life and looks they see online which is hardly possible cause it does not exist; that leads to low self-esteem and low satisfaction in life, seeing problems where there is none (e.g. I am not happy because I don’t have those shoes that influencer has, my hair is not so shiny, etc.) -opportunity cost – time spent online is the time NOT spent with family and friends, learning, being outside, having real interactions and hobbies -difficulties to interact in real life – due to addictive usage of social media youth lack soft skills to interact in real life which on longer run results in social exclusion or even struggling to integrate in work environment Our goal was to change the attitudes of young people how they see and use social media, to reduce time spent online by increasing soft competences useful to interact in real life as well as introducing new methods and approaches how to use technologies and social media and alternatives how to spend free time. The goal was successfully reached through high involvement of young people in implementation of project and learning mobility. We reached our planned objectives: 1. Increased soft skills of young participants (creativity, communication, media literacy and critical thinking) 2. Familiarized young participants how they could spend their time differently and not on social media 3. Introduced ideas and tools how to reduce time spent online and make technologies serve young participants rather than young participants being captured by technologies (Digital Minimalism philosophy)
