Objectives

The young people of four countries (Hungary, Romania, Serbia and Ukraine), who are living at a peripheral, economically under-developed area, accomplished the „Our Circular Economy” youth exchange to get to know a new point of view with non-formal learning, which helped us to plan the future with a critical thinking, while taking care of our enviroment’s sustainability. Through non-formal and informal learning methodes, collaborative learning and collaboration, we created an intercultural collection called the "Circular ABC", that represents many values: it contains environmental, unique, traditional, european and local values, helps to create jobs for young people, provides opportunities and promotes sustainability. One of our most important goal was to help youth with disadvantaged background to participate in a program that strengthens groupwork ability, while they jointly planned, implemented, assessed and popularised their work. The main goal of our project was to work together on the concept of "circular economical approach" in order to see its opportunities, improve our initiative, respect sustainability and develop our media literacy and critical thinking. We aimed to improve many main competencies throughout the program. Through entrepreneurial competences, we improved young people's sense of initiative and responsibility, and encouraged them to innovate. We learned about the workplaces associated with 'circular economy', the opportunities that this offers and improved our entrepreneurial spirit. By developing science competence, participants learned how to act locally and think globally in pursuit of individual and community goals. As for interpersonal and citizenship related competencies, youth got the chance to familiarise themselves with an intercultural atmosphere. They learned and accepted different cultures, which aimed to help the long process of an individual becoming a member of the community. Learning to learn was also an important aspect of our program. With utilising the methods of projectwork and workshops plus peer learning, our aim was to help youth make good use of their newly gained skills in all walks of life, be it education, their workplace or an own business. Due to the topic, competencies related to technology and technical sciences were also be greatly developed, as the "Fix it, Recycle it!" slogan was at the heart of the work. Non-formal tasks also strengthened the competencies of writing, math, digital, and expressiveness. Foreign language competence also appeared, as in many programs (learning about competencies, writing songs, etc.) we managed to practice multiple languages.
