Objectives

Overall the two organisations wanted to begin the process of improving their practice in working with young refugees. For MUDEM this meant gaining knowledge of youth work practice in a European country with strong policies and practice in this field and for Youth Work Ireland this entailed gaining a greater insight in to the world of refugee support in a country which has had to organise a concerted response to a large influx of refugees. The project had the following objectives: 1. Deliver training and learning inputs to workers on youth work values, history, policy, methodology and practice 2. Enhance knowledge and insight amongst key personnel in the partners of each other’s work particularly on youth work practice and frontline work with refugees 3. Ensure interaction between youth workers and staff from both organisations to build better awareness of where this work fits into the international situation, youth work practice and methodologies 4. Ensure participants visit and interact with frontline projects and work in the respective fields of youth work and refugee support 5. Introduce frameworks for the education and training of youth workers and volunteers to MUDEM 6. Introduce frameworks and methods relating to frontline refugee support and different sub-groups to Youth Work Ireland
