By means of this project, the participating Organizations intend to DEVELOP THE PROFESSIONAL SKILLS OF A GROUP OF YOUTH OPERATORS, to enable them to build and implement educational actions for young people in marginalized conditions WHO DO NOT ATTEND YOUTH CLUBS OR OTHER YOUTH CENTERS. The participating organizations work with disadvantaged young people in different areas (rural or urban), in different social and economic contexts with different policies and resources dedicated to young people; and yet they are JOINED by the need to extend their ability to help those YOUTH GROUPS THAT DO NOT SEEK DIRECT HELP both because they are not able to access the available educational resources and because they REFUGE THE RULES that characterize the aforementioned "structured places" and the relationships WITH EDUCATIONAL FIGURES. To this end, the participating Organizations shared the need to deepen knowledge and implementation skills of a methodological approach, such as Street and Community Education, which was created just for overcoming the difficulty of intercepting these young people and offering them educational support and personal empowerment. This approach can be easily adapted to the different contexts and to the different peculiarities of the youth disadvantage because it requires the operators to meet young people in the places of their daily life, including virtual spaces (Social); and transforms "the street" from a risky place to a place of vital relationships and relational events that can become highly educational. The COMPLETELY DIFFERENT SETTING OF THE EDUCATIONAL ACTION, however, makes necessary to have A VERY WIDE SET OF SKILLS that allow the operator to manage the organization of the space and the rules that govern the relationship, the object and the timing of the relationship educational, in an innovative way. Therefore, this project offers the youth workers the great opportunity to: _ live a learning experience "on the road", following groups of young people through the city of Turin in places characterized by a plurality of situations of disadvantage and marginality, alongside experienced street workers (trained within the “University of the Road” – Gruppo Abele); _participate in dialogues and discussions with the aforementioned expert operators, which is essential in order to verify and consolidate learning; _ sharing within the group of youth workers their own personal experience of work with young people in situations of marginalization, thus being able to enrich themselves with the contribution of the others in a learning community perspective; _compare the contexts where the respective organizations intend to activate street and community education, and thus begin to develop implementation strategies, each benefiting from the contribution of expert operators and other youth workers. The project also contributes to: _create a European network on Street and Community Education thanks to the (remote) comparison that the participating Organizations intend to continue on the educational activities carried out with this approach, as well as within the 12 months of the duration of the project, on the results of the respective monitoring (Follow up); _ to spread the knowledge of this approach and consequently to strengthen the capacity for educational intervention, exploiting the capacity of the participating organizations to transfer the results of this learning experience to the stakeholders of the youth sector.
The project aims to improve the capacity of youth organizations to work with young people in situations of severe marginalization and social exclusion who typically do not attend youth Centers, Clubs or other educational or entertainment institutions and reject the opportunities to establishing relationships with educational figures. The specific objectives of the project are therefore: _Transfer to the Youth Workers the method of Outreach Education considered of excellence for interventions dedicated to the described target; _Offer Youth Workers who demonstrate an aptitude for innovation, an opportunity to socialize knowledge, ideas, educational models with other colleagues at European level.
