Objectives

Our proposal wanted to reverse the trends such as early school leavers, early leavers from education and training due to local prejudice (poverty background/ environment), linguistic barriers (slang/dialects spoken) and lack of recognition of their skills in life experience. We wanted to create an Euro-Mediterranean space where the young people involved could be facilitated to identify their needs, potential stigmas and stereotypes and overcome them before having an interview, by being able to present themselves and their soft skills through video curriculum. Social media literacy has also promoted their overall social inclusion, by providing them more means to communicate, express themselves by presenting a positive image with other youths and members in their local community. Our proposal aimed to provide young people with skills addressed to the labor market by using NF tools for self-recognition first and to satisfy their needs for training so as to be ready for a digital society. The mean has been their smartphone and the tool of the Video-CV. PROJECT OBJECTIVES • Equipping at least other 7 youth workers with competences & UGM resources to promote youth employability • Enabling 26 youths to identify their job needs and enhance their own employability through personal branding • Improve the employability of young people with fewer opportunities by acquiring skills necessary for stable and integration into the labor market. Our proposal wanted to satisfy some of those needs through a path by involving the young group in mixed methodologies by a theoretical and practical approach. In addition to above, and accordance to the latest situation related to Covid-19, which increased the need of working from home and have put more pressure on youth employability and the need to upgrade their skills, including digital skills, in order to be ready for the work place, they need to do it fast and be ready, competition in getting harder. The non formal education activities planned has helped them to self-recognize their soft-skills to add in a CV; they have been facilitated to find out the linked path between their desires (what they would like to do) and the reality of the local job market (what they can do - what they can give); the job-shadowing simulation activity has helped them to find out what they need to be in the job market; the video CV to acquire self-confidence to better promote themselves into the labor market.
