Background

The further expansion recorded in the gap between the north and the south of the world, first of all in terms of unequal access to resources, has been accompanied by the spread of terrorism and the irrepressible return of the method of war as a conceptual framework and preferential resolution tool internal and international conflicts of regulation and normalization of international disputes. The perception of living in the time of war is now widespread. War as cultural dominant before as a military practice. War is the way in which relations of economic, political, cultural and even social dominance are regulated. From the commercial one engaged between companies to the one fought between national states, from that of religion to the civil one, from the manifest one of the armed clash to the implicit and latent one of poverty and underdevelopment, war has become the organizing model of cohabitation. Conflict is a physiological phenomenon in the lives of individuals and societies: otherwise, it can easily degenerate into destructive violence. As Gandhi has also observed, often with the use of violent methods the conflicts do not reach a real solution, but are only temporarily silenced to then evolve into further moments of confrontation. Fortunately for us all, in the lives of individuals and societies we find innumerable cases in which non-violence has allowed conflicts to be managed and resolved constructively: this is why the heart of peace education is teaching to combat injustices and violence without using the same weapons, using the tools of active non-violence. The objectives of the project are: - Knowing how to build behaviors and consciences inspired by the acceptance of plurality, the refusal of closing behaviors towards other individuals, cultures, the ability to collaborate with others, the recognition and respect for interculturality. - Stimulate empathy, respect, and understanding towards others - Stimulate curiosity for different cultural contexts, and promote a positive attitude towards the possibilities of preventing and mitigating dramatic phenomena such as wars and inequalities, - Promote knowledge and respect for human rights; - Provide basic elements for knowledge and interpretation of phenomena of strong human impact such as armed conflicts, migratory flows, social and gender inequalities; - find out how to implement, within a group, methods of help, forms of collaboration, responsibility and commitment - To encourage recognition of risk situations in daily life, - Promote the ability to interact in a group, to understand different points of view, to respect the rights and opinions of others.
