Objectives

The EuroParks Youth Exchange project aimed to achieve multiple objectives, including promoting nature protection and preservation, raising awareness about the need to adopt a sustainable lifestyle, encouraging youth participation in non-formal education, and promoting the opportunities that Erasmus+ projects offer for youth mobility and development. One of the primary objectives of the project was to raise awareness about the problem of biodiversity loss and climate change and how it is fundamental to promote and protect National Parks and protected areas in order to prevent those problems. The project aimed to achieve this objective by involving youth participants from different cultures to meet and exchange ideas and cooperate towards the goal of sustainable consumption. By providing an opportunity for youth from different countries to come together and discuss issues related to nature preservation and promotion, the project aimed to foster a sense of responsibility and a greater understanding of the importance of protecting the environment. Another objective of the project was to involve youth participants from the region and raise awareness about the Erasmus+ projects. The project aimed to address the issue of youth unemployment in the area by providing an opportunity for young people to engage in non-formal education and learn new skills that could increase their employability. By promoting the opportunities that Erasmus+ projects offer for youth mobility and development, the project aimed to encourage young people to take advantage of such opportunities and broaden their horizons. The project also aimed to help local people to understand and valorize the unexpressed social and economic potential of the area. The area surrounding the Aspromonte National Park is one of the poorest rural areas in Europe with a skyrocketing youth unemployment rate. By implementing mobilities and activities in this area, the project aimed to help the local people to identify and develop the social and economic potential of the area. Through the workshops that were implemented in the Aspromonte National Park, the project aimed to demonstrate the importance of nature preservation and promotion to the local people and encourage them to take an active role in protecting the environment. Moreover, the project aimed to encourage the young people in the area to invest in the territory and avoid the depopulation phenomena that are affecting the rural areas of the south of Italy. By providing an opportunity for young people to engage in activities related to nature promotion and preservation, the project aimed to encourage them to take an active role in their local communities and contribute to the development of the area. The project also aimed to provide participants with knowledge, skills, attitudes, and behaviours towards nature preservation and promotion. Through activities such as the visit to the headquarters of the Aspromonte National Park, and the workshop that was implemented inside the national park, the project aimed to provide participants with a greater understanding of the importance of nature preservation and promotion. Participants were also provided with practical tips on how to adopt a sustainable lifestyle and reduce their impact on the environment. Finally, an important objective of the project was to create an awareness campaign that would reach a wider audience. The campaign aimed to spread the message of nature preservation and promotion, encourage people to adopt a sustainable lifestyle and promote the opportunities that Erasmus+ projects offer for youth mobility and development. The campaign was composed of content created during the mobility, which was shared and promoted through digital and offline media in order to reach a wider amount of people. The campaign was not only shared within the partner organization but also shared within the partner network at all levels and on the personal social media accounts of the participants. The final goal of this campaign was to be published on the social media accounts of the National Parks, if available, or in the main source of information of the regions. The project's ultimate goal of stimulating participants to research innovative ways to promote a sustainable lifestyle is also commendable. This would encourage young people to think creatively and come up with new ideas and strategies to tackle environmental challenges. The project's focus on promoting a circular and green economy perspective in the rural areas surrounding the national parks and protected areas is also noteworthy. This approach would ensure that the rural areas' development aligns with sustainable practices that would promote environmental conservation while improving the residents' standard of living. In summary, the objectives of the EuroParks Youth Exchange project were to promote nature protection and preservation and raise awareness about the need to adopt a sustainable lifestyle.
