Objectives

This project is a follow-up to 'Up-cycling and art' YE (https://www.react.lu/up-cycling-and-art/). This follow-up activity will allow participants to experience various types of art and through it learn how to up-cycle and gain awareness on the three R's of environment for life. The future depends on the young generations, which is why this follow-up will engage young people from Luxembourg, Czech Republic, Poland, Macedonia, Croatia, Italy and Spain to come together for a week and learn on the importance of up-cycling, discuss, compare and learn more on the three R's of environment (Recycle, Reuse, Reduce) and all that through practicing various types of art. This project will tackle the topic of up-cycling in a fun and easy going way, where the young participants will learn useful information and acquire new skills in fun and unusual way. The pollution is growing bigger and the only way to revert this process is to inform the young people on the consequences related to improper waste disposal. Thus this project aims to raise awareness within young Europeans on the environmental print that each individual makes. 'The art of up-cycling' will bring together 42 young people from 7 European countries, in Luxembourg. This project will make participants realize how important is to respect the environment we live in, and make a step towards a more sustainable society. The young Europeans need to take a positive example from the countries that are more advanced in the field and work together for a better tomorrow. Through this project, the participants will gain knowledge, inspiration and motivation that will trigger a small wave impact back in their communities. According to the most recent statistics in 2015, Luxembourg is producing 52 kg of plastics waste per person and holds the second place, after Ireland - the country that produces the most plastic waste in Europe (61 kg per person).
